Frequently Asked Questions
What kind of food is served at The Grill?
The Grill serves a delectable selection of hot and cold dishes, with something to tantalise every set of tastebuds available from our choice of starters, mains, and desserts. If you’re looking for something a little lighter than our hearty hot meals, we also have a ‘healthy menu’ with a range of smaller – yet no less delicious – refreshing plates.
Our menu features a range of innovative dishes crafted in-house by our gourmet chef, including both national and international cuisines, and our sommelier is always happy to help you pair the perfect wine with your chosen dish. By the end of your meal, you’ll leave your table truly satisfied from our freshly prepared, high-quality fare and attentive service.
Our grilled fish, steaks, and cutlets are of course the highly recommended stars of The Grill menu, but our indulgent cheese plates also have a stellar reputation amongst our guests. We also have a list of decadent desserts to choose from to complete your three-course meal on a sweet note, from artisan bakes and ice cream to chocolate fondue with fruit.

Does The Grill have vegetarian options?
We aim to provide a delightful gourmet experience for every diner at The Grill, offering a wide selection of dishes to please a variety of palates. Our menu uses local produce of all kinds in a range of creations, ensuring there is something suitable for omnivores, pescatarians, and vegetarians.
We currently do not offer vegetarian substitutes for our fish and meat grill courses, but our fish-free and meat-free options include salad, risotto, vegetable soup, tomato tartare, and stir-fried organic vegetables. Not to mention the showstoppers of both The Grill and The Sun Deck – our famed cheese fondue and raclette courses, ideal for two or more guests to enjoy together.
Our menu may be subject to change due to variations in seasonal produce, but you can consult The Grill menu online and contact the El Lodge team if you require more information on a specific dish.
We recommend contacting us in advance of your visit to The Grill if you would like to enquire about dairy-free vegan options or to let us know if you have an allergy. In these cases, our chefs will do their utmost to accommodate your dietary needs with the resources available.
Is The Grill a fine dining restaurant?
The Grill is the primary restaurant at El Lodge, providing a laid-back yet indulgent breakfast spread in the mornings and an elegant fine dining experience in the evenings. With a luxurious setting created by the vintage but comfortable décor and the mountains as a beautiful backdrop, The Grill is perfect for a sophisticated romantic dinner or a magical family meal.
Children are not allowed in The Lounge after 9pm, but they are welcome for dinner in The Grill when accompanied by an adult. While our elevated menu gives older children an opportunity to expand their palates, we understand that younger children can sometimes be less adventurous – in which case, you can ask for a separate children’s menu with smaller plates and plainer options.
It is a slightly more formal dining environment than The Sun Deck, which offers a more casual lunch and après-ski snacks for guests and skiers arriving directly from the slopes. However, there is no formal dress code for dining at The Grill – though we do advise smart-casual dress, and guests should be aware that swimwear and bathrobes are not acceptable dining attire.
Is The Grill open for lunch?
While The Grill is the main restaurant, it is closed during the lunch period, as The Sun Deck is now El Lodge’s lunchtime restaurant and prime afternoon dining spot. The Grill is open for a breakfast buffet from 8am to 11am, and open for dinner from 8pm to 11pm – but don’t worry, there are alternative options for food and drinks while The Grill isn’t open.
Between these serving times, The Sun Deck restaurant is open from 1pm to 4pm for guests and skiers looking for lunch, and The Lounge serves drinks and snacks all day from 11am to 12am. The Bar is also open from late afternoon to late evening, serving a wide selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks from 4pm to 12am.
These four establishments have varying opening times throughout the day to cater to a wider range of visitors and their daily activities in the Sierra Nevada ski resort. Room service is also available for El Lodge guests between 7am and 12am, with a limited menu available past midnight – you can contact the reception desk to find out more.
