A getaway to the ski slopes of Spain is something you look forward to and enjoy. A moment of true relaxation, but if you haven’t been before or aren’t prepared enough, you may feel like you haven’t made the most of your time.
If you are planning your first family ski trip to Sierra Nevada or are looking for ways to improve your previous visit, our guide on how to make the most of your vacation in Sierra Nevada will help you.
Sun Protection!
It is something that is often overlooked, but Sierra Nevada is, above all, the southernmost ski resort in Spain, so it enjoys many hours of sunshine. You will understand if you have forgotten it other times, but going skiing without sun protection can have harmful effects on the skin.
You will need a protection factor higher than 40 since the climate is usually very sunny and the altitude makes the skin burn faster than usual.
Do Everything Early
In Spain, lunchtime is usually a bit late. Normally, lunchtime is usually around 2 o’clock, so if you decide to eat a little earlier you will probably avoid waiting. Also, when you return to the slopes, you will have them practically to yourself as many skiers will be enjoying their lunch.
Arrive Early or be Prepared to Wait
Sierra Nevada is a very popular ski resort mainly because of how long the season usually is. We suggest you avoid waiting by arriving early.
It may be a very obvious piece of advice, and in a way it is. If you wake up with the first rays of sun, it will be worth it; otherwise, the wait may be longer.
Book your Ski Pass in Advance
Every year, El Hotel El Lodge has been able to issue ski passes to customers prior to arrival. However, this year due to the pandemic, Cetursa Sierra Nevada does not allow hotels or establishments to perform this service.
As an alternative, Cetursa has made a new website available to users, in which you must create a user and follow all
the steps until completing the registration. There will be a maximum capacity per day at the station and there will be no ticket offices to buy the Ski Pass on the same day, when that capacity is met, no more ski passes will be issued.
Afterwards, you can proceed to recharge said Ski Pass for the day or days desired. Once you have acquired your ski passes after registering with a username and password, you will receive instructions to print your passes personally at the kiosks located in Plaza de Pradollano.
Again, we urge you to purchase your ski passes in advance to ensure a stay as smooth as possible. If you have any questions about this new system, please do not hesitate to contact us.
